takes me to select user or group prompt

last night i wanted to delete a file, says i cant at present

i utilize to take the alarm about having to ostend delete because i did not have privilage, not the ostend delete thing

on some files out side of my external drive information technology will bring up that rubber prompt only not on my bulldoze anymore, i tried to bring it dorsum for some reason and so i would accidentally lose annihilation.

but i guess i made the file undeletable

how do i bring all those acess security settings dorsum to default?

Please do the following.

P ress the Windows key and the R fundamental to open the Run box.

Type cmd in the Run box, press Shift, [/b]Ctrl[/b], Enter together to run this as an ambassador. This will open the the Elevated Control Prompt.

Re-create and paste TAKEOWN /F c:\windows\winsxs in the Command Prompt, then printing Enter.

Note : Here C: represents the partitioning that the operating system is installed on. If this is not the correct bulldoze for you lot computer enter the bulldoze letter for your computer.

Re-create and paste ICACLS c:\windows\winsxs /grant administrators:F in the Command Prompt, so press Enter.

you lot require permission from the computers administrator to brand changes to this file

how do i as the only user become the administrator?

my external drive is on "i" and tried that also

still wont let me delete it

i stumbled on to this thing that said that it could refresh win8 without losing my information

could that bring it all back to default?

dont call back where i saw it

im use to win xp 8)

under pc settings

"refresh your pc, without affecting your files"

k i just deleted it

had to option a few "user" adminis whatevers till i got the right one

hope i didnt bleep this thing up more

i would even so like to bring all those security settting permission things back to default

still has lots of stuff from sometime user

was told most 3 years ago that, they might come back for information technology to recover some stuff

then i never deleted anything

i used another older model which just died this calendar month

make and model is

hp pavillion a6157c idiot box pc

A Refresh basically will reinstall the operating system, this will non affect your personal files if you apply the option to save them in the instructions.  The downside is that this will uninstall all of your third political party programs you installed.  Windows 8.ane will place a list of removed apps on your desktop after refreshing your PC, I would suggest that you copy this listing for a reference when you go to reinstall these programs.

Press the Windows key   and the I key to open Settings.

In Settings click/tap on Recovery, click/tap on Refresh your PC without affecting your files, then Get Started.

You will see a folio titled Refresh you PC, click/tap on Next.  On the next page click/tap on Refresh.

The computer may plough off and dorsum on during this procedure, you don't need to do annihilation.  The scan will display a percentage of its completion.
